"Cheap Acoustic Bass
Guitar" Rating:

A Fishman Sonicore pickup and SST preamp deliver a fat, punchy
sound. The mahogany neck, back, and sides make for a rich low end.
Features a spruce top, pearl dot inlays, die-cast chrome tuners,
rosewood fretboard and bridge, and an onboard tuner.
Large, deep body design provides rich, loud
sound, even when unplugged. Maple top, back, and sides dish out
tight tone with defined upper end. Abalone rosette and binding
deliver awesome good looks. 32" scale provides adequate tension to
move the soundboard but is easy on your fingers. The Fishman
Sonicore piezo pickup and AEQ-SS preamp with three-band EQ let you
dial in the precise tone you're after. Built-in Onboard Ibanez Tuner
Reviews:
- Daredevil Sally - This bass is awesome! I've
tried many acoustic basses, but this one takes the cake. It has a
very smooth sound from the lowest to highest note you could
possibly play. I had a little fret buzz on the E string, on about
the first 4-5 frets, but I took it to a guitar shop and they fixed
it at no cost. So, all-in-all, this bass is a great deal
price-wise and it plays great.
- rushnut2112 - This thing had me pretty
impressed...The fishman pickup with the phase setting is great to
eliminate feedback trouble...the onboard tuner is a great
addition, although I found it to register notes at a pretty slow
rate...the nut and bridge are ok, and the bass comes with a
replacement bridge...I have not had to mess with the truss rod as
of yet, and the neck feels pretty slim and playable...I found that
the body is full and that excessive playing with your right hand
could become a bit cumbersome while sitting...(welcome to the
acoustic world)!!! I have never used the D'addario strings but
really like the warm tone it gives when plugged in...I would
recommend it to anyone, especially those who enjoy "unplugging"
during gigs...
- nofrets - For the dollar, this sounds and
plays great. The sound dulls a bit when the strings get old but
who wants to play old strings? I've played on-stage plugged and
on- and off-stage unplugged and I have never had a volume issue.
I've been very pleased. I own three Warwicks and had considered
getting an Alien (Warwick A/E bass) but wasn't as impressed for
the money! For what it's worth...
Don't be sidelined next time your buds are
playing in the park to impress potential mates.
Show 'em you're the best of the bunch with your
new Ibanez Acoustic Bass !!
