"Cheap Bass Guitar" Rating:
The
new
Peavey Millennium 4 BXP combines sexy looks with
features offering you our best cheap bass guitar ever. Genuine quilt
maple top adds a stunning look to any of the four available
finishes. The hard rock maple neck has a silky smooth satin finish
and a great feeling action that plays superbly. Peavey's string
through body design increases the amount of sustain and is not a
feature you would normally find on a bass in this price range. To
top it off there are two "J" type humbucking pickups with choice
electronics to insure versatile and flexible sound quality for live
or studio gigs. You'll be blown away by the result of this beautiful
bass.

Wow, is the best way to describe my feelings
on opening up the box. The quality of the
finish, mine is sunburst, absolutely puts other
basses in this price category to shame. For a
starter bass, the quality and playability is
very good. Caution on this - other reviews state
the action is very low, believe it. Because of
the string-through-body, the action is very low.
Because I play with a heavy hand, it produces a
lot of buzz. Simple adjustment of the rod fixes
the problem AND you can string it conventionally
if desired. This bass has a smooth and thin neck
which makes it easier on any hands. The strings
are only so-so. Plan on keeping them maybe a
month, then go out and get a decent set.
Overall, I compared this bass to the Ibanez GSR
200 and Squier P-Bass Special. The millennium
beats them in every respect. The only reason
this is not a perfect 10 is reality, this is a
beginners bass but wow, what a way to start.
Don't hesitate to buy this over the Ibanez or
Squier.

Craig - I bought this a
while ago and I don't understand what you
are saying about the buzzing, because this
thing doesn't give me any bad noise or
feedback. It has incredible tone, but again
not just straight volume knob, but whatever
its ok. I use it with a Behringer bx600
ultrabass amp, and it sounds just awesome. I
also play at my church and it is so much
better than the other bass.

JR - This is a fantastic
value. I've played bass for almost 20 years,
in bands and lots of jam sessions. I've
owned a Peavey 5 string bass since 1993. The
quality and reliability has always been
there. When it came time to purchase a bass
for my youngest son, I had no reservations
to look at another Peavey. Playford Music
had a sale on all guitars and basses. The
Millennium BXP 4-String (transparent black)
caught my eye immediately, before I even
looked at the price tag. After seeing the
price I had to play it...didn't take more
than a minute to know it was the one. I
liked it so much that I've use it instead of
my 5 string at the jam sessions. Very
playable, beautiful in appearance, and great
price too. If you’re in the market for an
affordable bass, you won't be disappointed
with this one.
